Kev's dream

Kev has been having several strange dreams recently. This was because of the doxycycline he recently switched to due to an 'interesting' reaction to Malerone. We shall share his two most recent dreams so far;

The first dream concerned him attempting to bricklay behind his back(considerably better than in real life) when a stork flew down into the centre of a desolate build site. It proceeded to give Kev the morning report in the style of Zazu from the Lion King , then flew off leaving Kevlar alone , in the shell of a school building.

The second dream was far more peculiar, involving one Matthew Smailes. Kev dreamt  Smailes was a woman, laying bricks. His long, flowing locks and elegant dress baffled him as he/she Iaid  bricks on the outer course. When Kev attempted to explain this to the Explorers, the next morning, a rather amusing question arose as Timucin enquired as to whether Smailes did in fact have 'titanic bits'.

Meanwhile in the real world, we have successfully laid the two gable ends of the school and are very close to completing the two side walls. While other teams enjoy their rest days to lake Manyara, teams 3 and 5 are subjected to hard labour in the immense heat of the Tanzanian sun. Work is hard but fulfilling, but the 4 days till Kev's next rest day seem an eternity. Smailes has his in two days time so is looking forward to a break.

Thomas 'Kev' Dixon and (a rather nervous) Matthew Smailes

PS. I always thought I would look better as a woman.

  3. Glad to hear your new side effects are weird dreams...that's got to be better than those from your first malaria treatment ( hope the loo roll supplies are easy to replenish out there in the middle of nowhere !). As an aside thomas, extreme are playing the o2 in December and I will be buying the tickets tomorrow morning! So that's two gigs to look forward to when you get back.... anyway you are doing a cracking job, all of you should be so proud

  4. Thought while you're out in the remote African savannah you might want a quick succinct update on politics to reassure you that the world is still in deed going to shite while you're out doing incrediable things. Jezza Jezza corbyn has sold out his show at the Edinbrough fringe festival while the DUP are staying suspiciously quiet and May has graced the pages of Vogue praised for her daring sense of style. The game of thrones script has been stolen in cyber attack, brexit still a thing. Trump has hired then succinctly fired a communications director with a name straight out of chitty chitty bang bang (Mr Scaramucci) while simultaneously putting the world at ease reassuring us he is 'taking all necessary precautions against North Korea' and casually banning transgender people from joining the military while he's on one. The sperm count of western men has fallen by a half in the last 40 years and most importantly (according to the sun anyway) Kim Kardashian’s surrogate is reportedly three months pregnant. Small ad-lib for holly I'm afraid the hand maids tale tv show is all the rave despite its shrilling, I'm sure for you , differences to the book.

  11. Pleased to hear Kev is on the mend even if it is at the expense of vivid dreams.

We are holidaying in the south of France Temperatures reach 37/38 every day. I can't imagine someone building in such heat. And there you all are doing exactly that. It struck me it isn't the only think that is being built. Memories and better people?

    A proud Dad. Patrick xx

  12. Looking good don't forget you promised to build that BBQ when you get back Holly ;0)

Proud of what your doing out there it is a real tangible achievement that will make a real difference to many many people. Which is more than most people can say these days.

While your off building character and well.... buildings! We're all still just the same, ticking over as usual. Emily is still an angry little bumble bee (watch out for the sting), tom is still a cute little gremlin who'd look sweet as pie while steeling your last Rolo, Jack is still a crazy wacky funny clown who can make you laugh and cry with the same joke. And Charlie is well...... still Charlie full of angry love and brimming with emotion.

We're all looking forward seeing what the new you will be like when you come home.

Actually Jack shared an interesting dream he had yesterday where he was a rooster and was trying to escape from farm/school while I stool outside and cheered him on!! I wonder if he's found your malaria tablets?

    Love u lots

  13. Bonjour Molly! It's cold and wet in London, Grandma says she would like to be in a hotter place but maybe not as hot as where you are. Granddad says; 'Well done Molly and we may use your new skills in the garden' I'm travelling to Paris this evening. Keep up the good work and keep smiling. Clare

Message to jack, we re in Scotland this week and Emma and I climbed our first mountain today up Ben Vrackie. It was rather a tough climb..it's not as big as Ben Nevis but big enough! My bunions are killing me!! I had to have many stops...poor dad had to stop and wait for us quite alot. He's really missing you as he is having to put up with mine and Emma's girly talk. Keep up the good work and look forward to hearing more daily blogs xxx

Hi Bob hope you are looking after Alex and he isn't keeping you awake with his sleep talking on a night. Look after your selves. Xx

(I used to hear all sorts from Bob while he was asleep so there's probably some really entertaining conversations in that tent - Wx)
