Massai Memories

Luckily we have some explorers with fantastic memories! At last our evening blog!

At last our rest day had finally arrived
But with Niall and Robbie we weren't sure we'd survive
From the campsite we did depart
To Mto wa Mbu to buy some fine art
In the markets there were some persistant traders
With some foods that would produce some interesting flavours

We drove to engaruka for what seemed like a while
But the journey certainly gave all the group a smile
Engaruka was hot and the roads were all bumpy but the team was the opposite of grumpy
We met up with soloman our tour guide
Who took us for a 'long' interesting ride

We drove again for an hour or two
To a lodge where we could all finally have a poo
We ordered our food and went for a swim
In the mean time dan almost lost a limb
The food arrived after an hour or three
And after i made sure i was throughly empty

To camp we had to finally return
Where we all shared what we had learned
The catering team made a smashing tea
But after gorging on burgers it was too much for me
The day had finally drawn to a close
So I went to my tent and off I dose

  1. Yet another brilliant blog...you have some really engaging talented writers out there....there must be hundreds of people waiting to read the daily updates now.. quick word to Kevlar.hang in there son. Your little problem with the malaria tablets is very common but we are rooting for you to pull through. I'm sure the medical team will have some ideas which might alleviate if not resolve it. Your family are scouring the blog for progress updates so hopefully something will work...( Kevlar's dad.)

  5. Looks like you are all working hard. I can only imagine how tough it must be to work in the heat of central Africa. An experience I bet.

Molly. I'm writing this as I travel with Jacob under the England Channel. Technology! Mum and the others are already in the south of France. Missing you loads huds and kisses. Dad xx

  8. Great blog. It's been a week now since we waved you off on that bus from Teesside park. Does it feel like a long time ago? It does to us. Keep up the hard work Archie - hope you are enjoying yourself and keeping the sunburn and mosquitos at bay. I do worry about the mosquitos cos all biting insects love you! At home, Molly and Oscar are still enjoying playing together. Look after yourself and each other, love mum, dad and Davy xx

  9. To The Doll, a week on and we miss you like mad. We have spotted your hat in a photo which make us squeak with delight so we can see you are happy and healthy.
I hope you are relatively sunburn free and eating well.
All is mental here as usual. Tom has lost his first tooth so is running around wiggling his tongue at people through the tiny gap. Charlie is bouncing all over and hates everyone until he is hungry. Jack has discovered soduko which keeps him quiet and Emily is a feral child we are still trying to hide from the outside world and pretend she isn't ours on the occasion we need to leave the house.
We took a trip to Redcar beach (jack
Sparrow again) which I thoroughly enjoyed (!) upon leaving the car strict and clear instructions were given "don't get your clothes wet". The kids promptly ran to the sea and jumped in head first!
It occurs to me I am no longer in control as if I ever was!
Keep ya hat on and suncream and watch out
    For the wildlife!
Lots o love Mam and dad

  12. The rest days sound fab. Writing this lost in cambridge with evermore chance of missing my train home and impending doom, you may have danger of rogue lions where you are but I have avid radio 4 listeners of which I may be trespassing on their property. Not sure which more dangerous. As evening sets on cambridge with a flutter of the next mornings guardian paper early delivery, I worry for my safety. One week in, everyone missing you here holly. Lots of love stella x
