A pricey poem

While the waterfall stood tall and grand
and Ben got a shower the way nature plan
I looked forward to the lodge
where I could get hot water on command.

The rode was dusty and dumpy on the way to what I craved
but Phil's driving almost brought us all the a early grave
as he sored down the roads, almost hiting chickens and kittens
and some bloke selling mittens.

His attempts to kill us were in vain
he had still left Dan and Baindridge in some pain
We rode up to the gate and entered with out trouble
my mouth fell a gape as my excitement started to bubble.

It was the best we had been to
and all could see
that it was going to be expensive
 and nothing was free.

First there was the restaurant with an inside like a palace,
all the tables were set up like a Royal banquet was passing.
All the folks and spoons and knives were in the right place
and felt like anything we said would be in bad taste.

All the food was great,
the best we had so far
but the way we were dressed
was well below the bar.

We quickly moved to the pool
to try to feel at ease
then we saw the view
and we all got weak knees
for the site before us
was one of such beauty
but those afraid of heights
would feel rather whoosy

The water was cool
and pictures were taken
by a very nice lady
and we all acted rather quite gayly.
Towards the end
I got a feeling quite devious
and pushed a fully clothed Jonny in the depths
 which made him quite delirious.

When he recoved
he chased me around,
throwing my hat in the water
and me he nearly drowned.
After it all
we laughed and got our showers
and the hot water made me
feel as fresh as flowers.

As we left for the camp
I watch the lodge disappear
and I found a thought
running through my minds ear
"we paid 48,000 each for food
that was very tasted
but was it that much
because we are very pasty?"

  6. Hi Molly. Not much longer building and then a big celebration of what you've achieved and the prospect of a few days of luxurious relaxation and Big Five spotting. Enjoy. Love you "this much", Mum/Kate.

  7. Hello Josh W, We're so glad you found the elephants although I thought they were quite big... was the weather a bit grey that day? We loved reading your blog from the other day, It was stupendous, amazing exceedingly brilliant(but of course you in team 5)! Mum is just emptying everything out of your room in anticipation of the decorating it - no more penguins and polar bears! Hope you're sleeping well and coping with the hot weather. No doubt you are looking forward to getting back "on track" when you return. Miss you lots, love Mum,Dad,Caleb and Tiger Lily.

  15. Had a laugh reading the poem, sounds like a really nice day. After being referred to as sir multiple times by a patient today, here's to hoping he was a raging feminist or at least partially blind, I took to the shower to shave my legs for the first time in too long after a particularly lazy spell. Upon leaving the shower a few pounds lighter due to discarded fur and flesh, I leave the bathroom for the next person to wonder if they've stumbled straight into a Hitchcock movie or indeed a murder has taken place. Doctors home visits are my new favourite thing, get to nosy in people's houses all day! I'm finding it amusing comparing people's toilet seats, due to excessive tea I've been offered I've had to sample each toilet seat individually. Bet you guys all must be counting down days till your rest period now, it'll be well deserved. Lots of love most of stella (the rest got washed down the drain after a sharp razor took to it) x

  17. Loved the poem. Also, great to see the photo of the waterfall you've all visited.
Archie - Well, the sky is blue here for the second day in a row. Lisa ( and everyone we know) has been asking after you. Asking how you are and how you are getting on. It's hard really cos I feel I don't know exactly how you're getting on. We love the blog but it's not the same as hearing from you! I'm sure all us mums, dads, grannies etc feel the same. But we can see you are doing an amazing job and having a experience you will never forget.
Lisa is coming round for beans royal ( beans on toast with grated cheese on top and brown sauce). Do you miss beans on toast? Or are you having a lot of beans in camp? Bet they don't taste like Heinz.
Love you lots, from mum,dad and Davy x
